Current projects
1. Jack CECUP School in the townships of Lusaka, Zambia
Development of a teacher-teacher training on usage of ICT for educational purposes using the International Drivers Licence Certificate as a standard method. Teaching children the basic computer skills by using standard office applications such as word and PowerPoint, understanding and usage of Internet as a source of information. Next to that enhancing communication skills by using the computer, developing training material and training the system administrator in computer maintenance and trouble shooting.
2. Catholic University College of Ghana, Sunyani, Ghana
This project has to calculate an increasing number of students from 100 up to 500 in the coming two years.
3. City Hall Service, Gondar, Ethiopia
Digitalising the City Hall archive for administration and improvement of services for her clients. This archive contains about 100.000 written documents, to be identified and categorised. Then systematised into a administrative software program. Employers have to be trained on the basic usage of the computer and working with the new system. A system administrator will be trained in problem solving and maintenance of the new running programs.
4. Tholulwazi Information Centre, township Kwaggafontein, Pretoria, South-Africa
This centre offers services as a computer training using the IDLC method, copying, faxing and typing CV's for a community existing of about 170.000 inhabitants. Supporting and professionalising the existing IT infrastructure and organising fund raising activities for a new Information Centre for training purposes of community members, youth and young adults, will create better services, decrease the waiting list for the computer courses and therewith increases chances on the job market.
Furthermore business development courses for entrepreneurs are developed as to stimulate and enhance community development, independence and employment. This Information Centre will function as a blueprint and example for new initiatives coming from the surrounding communities.
5. Incubation Centre, Kampala, Uganda
Professionalise the existing Incubation centre attached to the Makerere University. The centre aims to stimulate and guide potential young entrepreneurs, just graduated, to set up their own business by enrolement in the incubation centre after their graduation. A three year program, where business methods and skills are teached will give a starting company enough backbone to become a successful company and stand on its own. These new companies will directly have a positive effect on industry development and boost the existing highly demanding economy of Uganda.
6. Educational University Master course 'Gender Issues in ICT', Kampala, Uganda
Gender issues are a special area of attention in a fast changing world being caused by the fast emergence of Information and Communication Technology. Gender studies focus themselves on the harmonious cooperation of the both genders to meet the challenges of the modern ICT-based society.
7. Telecentres in Africa, India and Nepal
Investigate, out role and professionalise new and existing telecenters (ICT centra) in Fort Portal and surrounding areas in Uganda, Kerala Province in India, the Northern Province of Zambia and the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, to enhance Information, Communication and Technology usage by the community members and the centres itself.
8. IDLC, computer training course, Papoa Nieuw Guinee-Port Moresby
Development of computer training course and creating a computer lab for abused women and girls at the YWCA branch office. The YWCA is a global network of women advancing social justice and creating opportunities and services for the development of women and their families. In the branch office where the project is located, very little IT equipment is available. Information Technology is new. The training of young women in the use computer technology is a way to create a career path as knowledge workers for women who have otherwise no opportunities.
